The Australian Basketball Players’ Association (ABPA) stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and condemns the Russian invasion in the strongest terms.

We support the World Players’ Association statement that calls for the strongest possible action and sanctions and commend the bravery shown by athletes around the world.

We call for FIBA to ban the Russian Federation from participation in national team events while it continues its hostility against the Ukrainian people.

Sport can be a powerful tool in the fight for justice and respect for human rights, and we must use our respective positions to support those in need and unite against this unacceptable war.
